Today, the software WindPRO of the Danish company EMD is
regarded as standard in the sector of planning and assessment
of wind energy projects.
WindPro was developed as a comprehensive instrument for
different planning requirements. Based on general basis input
data different questions concerning the planning can be
answered e.g. reports including shadow and noise calculation,
wind report and yield analyses, wind potential analyses,
preparing of wind maps etc.
WindPRO transmits the collected input data for the yield
analyses to WAsP with which then the actual model computation
is carried out.
WindPRO is usually used by AL-PRO for the acquisition of all
relevant input data as well as for the execution of the
computations. The input data consists of the following:
admission of the WEC locations; modelling of the land usage;
modelling of the orography; modelling of the wind obstacles;
computation of the wind farm yields based on the wind
distribution parameters by WasP.
